February, 2010
The Richmond Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) promoted "Get Organized Month" by volunteering their time and knowledge to the Greater Richmond Association of Retarded Citizens (GRARC). Local professional organizers and storage system vendors worked with the GRARC staff on Thursday February 4th. Each volunteer utilized his/her specific expertise in the field of organizing and storage, including: office organization, controlling paper and paper clutter, and space organization to prepare various departments for an upcoming move to a new facility and a few departments that will remain in their current location. They provided one-to-one consulting, held a seminar to answer staff questions on how to utilize their space and time more efficiently, prepared archival files for scanning, and reorganized storage areas for both the Infant/Child and Afterschool programs.

We would like to recognize and thank all of our members who volunteered their time and knowledge to make this event a success!

NAPO-Richmond donates time and 41 pounds of tuna and peanut butter to the Central Virginia Food Bank

Boy, do they have their act together over at the Central Virginia Food Bank Community Kitchen. Daily, they feed thousands of people in need in and around the Richmond area. We were a part of this effort for one day. Not one minute was wasted - as soon as we finished one project, we were immediately assigned to another - talk about proficiency! These folks knew how to run an organized kitchen from food prep to the end result. Meals were specifically labeled for each diet type and children's snacks were separated by "one juice" or "two juice". They took pride in quality control allowing no meal to pass through until it was thoroughly inspected - messy corners or potential for air getting into the meals were identified and swiftly sent back through the line again. It was a good feeling to give back to our community and it was especially nice working together with the Community Kitchen folks and learning more about this valuable resource provided to those in need throughout Richmond. At the end of the day, we weighed our chapter's PB/Tuna donations on the warehouse scale - we surpassed our goal and donated 41 lbs. in all! Thank you NAPO-Richmond for your donation
