Local Professional Organizers work to obtain similar goals but they do have various methods, unique teaching skills and experiences. It is important that you are comfortable with the organizer you are hiring. Therefore, we recommend that you do your research by reviewing their website, calling them directly or asking a friend. Check to make sure the organizer has the specific set of skills you are looking for and when communicating with them, make sure you connect with them personally.
How do I know if an Organizer is credible?
An Organizer is credible if they are a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers. NAPO requires that their members abide by a strict code of ethics and maintain certain requirements to be an upstanding member. Professional Organizers may also have other relevant certifications and specialties that they acquired from the NSGCD (an affiliate of NAPO) or other organizations.
How much will it cost me to get organized?
The cost of getting organized depends solely on the job at hand and the organizer you choose to work with. Some jobs take just a few hours while others take several weeks or months. Fees also vary according to the Organizer’s fee structure and rates. Fees may be based on an hourly, daily, weekly or project basis. However in general, In the greater Richmond area, fees can range from roughly $50.00 - $150.00 an hour.
